Nigeria is safer now than 10 years ago, Comedian Seyi Law says

Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has ignited a new discussion by stating that Nigeria is safer now than it was ten years ago. During an appearance on The Honest Bunch Podcast, he expressed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that the current government has made notable improvements in security.

When co-host Daddy Freeze inquired whether Nigeria is safer today than a decade ago, Seyi Law confidently stated, “Nigeria is safer now than 10 years ago.” He contended that the Tinubu administration has been more effective in tackling banditry compared to previous governments since the tenure of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Seyi Law challenged skeptics by asking when there were last reports of widespread bombings, implying that the level of violence observed during the height of the Boko Haram crisis has diminished. In contrast, activist Zekeri, who was also present, strongly disagreed, asserting that Nigeria is currently more dangerous than ever, citing recent attacks in the Northeast, an increase in kidnappings, and the deaths of high-ranking military officials. He argued that citizens are increasingly left to fend for themselves amid growing insecurity.

The discussion also touched on political matters, with Zekeri endorsing Peter Obi as a superior leader, stating that Obi’s finances are fully transparent. In response, Seyi Law maintained that the economy is on the rise under Tinubu and that the necessary reforms, albeit challenging, are vital.
