In a statement on Tuesday, State Commissioner for Transportation Oluwaseun Osiyemi explained that the temporary closures were essential for ensuring safety and the smooth execution of the events. Motorists were advised to plan their travel accordingly and use alternative routes to avoid delays.

The statement specified that the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge commissioning would take place on Wednesday, affecting traffic around Opebi-Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. On Thursday, two more events were scheduled for the same time frame, including the opening of the Tolu Schools Complex, which would impact traffic in the Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle areas.
