His significant opportunity arose at the Jagaban Cup, a Lagos scouting tournament that has evolved into a gateway for European teams. Isife leveraged this competition to display his speed, overlapping runs, and defensive skills, attracting the attention of Czech scouts and securing a move abroad.
His initial destination in Europe was FC Vlašim, where the young player quickly adapted to the rigors of Czech football. The experience and playing time he acquired there facilitated a transfer to Dukla Prague, where he competed in the Chance Liga. At Dukla, Isife made an immediate impact. He was included in the starting lineup and even netted his first goal in a 4-2 friendly victory against Mladá Boleslav, while also contributing three assists in his unofficial debut. In league play, he participated in 7 matches and provided two assists, establishing himself as one of the most reliable young full-backs in the division.
These performances caught the attention of Czech powerhouses Slavia Prague. In September 2025, Slavia confirmed the acquisition of the 21-year-old defender on a long-term contract set to last until December 31, 2029. The transfer fee, reported to exceed 40 million Czech crowns, marked a record sale for Dukla Prague and highlighted Isife’s high valuation. As part of the agreement, he continued at Dukla on loan until January 2026 before officially joining the “Red and Whites”.

Joining Slavia meant stepping into a club with a strong Nigerian connection. Peter Olayinka, Moses Usor, Yira Sor, and Muhamed Tijani had all worn the famous red and white, making Eden a proven home for young African talent. For Isife, the move was validation. “I believe in my abilities, my talent and the direction I’ve set for myself. Always working hard and listening to the coaches has helped me everywhere I’ve gone,” he said after signing. The timing could not have been more opportune. Slavia Prague stands as the current champions of the Czech top flight, and Isife arrived as they contended with rivals Sparta Prague at the top of the 2025/2026 season. Under coach Jindřich Trpišovský, who personally identified his potential, he joined a squad chasing domestic titles and European success.
From the dusty fields of Lagos and the innovative “no offside” rule of the Jagaban Cup to securing the Czech First League title, Samuel Isife’s ascent exemplifies the development system of 36 Lion and the strengthening connection between Nigerian academies and European football. He was discovered by FIFA agents Cem Sagar and Dan Smejkal during the Jagaban Cup while representing 36 Lion, transforming a scouting event into a professional opportunity in Prague. His narrative now serves as an inspiration for the upcoming generation at Legacy Pitch: with dedication and the appropriate platform, the journey from the Jagaban Cup to top-tier accolades is indeed attainable.
Isife’s path also indicates a transformation in the perception of Czech clubs towards Nigerian talent. No longer viewed merely as prospects, players like him are now regarded as essential assets for title pursuits.
He joins Uchenna Emmanuel, Joseph Oloko, Chukuebuka Enyiazu, and Peter Kareem as graduates of the Jagaban Cup who are currently competing in Europe. From Lagos to Eden, Samuel Isife did not merely succeed — he emerged as a champion.
