Another eyewitness blamed the accident on possible brake failure or overloading. “From what we saw, the truck may have lost control before hitting the bridge. But honestly, this bridge has been weak for a long time. This was bound to happen,” he added.
The collapse has left commuters stranded, forcing residents to either take longer alternative routes or risk crossing dangerous paths around the damaged structure.
“This is not just about an accident anymore,” another resident lamented. “This is about the safety of lives. What if people were on the bridge when it collapsed?”
As of the time of filing this report, there is no official statement from the Kwara State Government or emergency agencies regarding casualties or plans for immediate repairs.
Residents are now appealing directly to authorities: “Kwara State Government, we need your attention here at Odo Moro, Ilorin, Okolowo-Mandala. This iron bridge is critical to our daily lives.”
The incident adds to growing concerns over infrastructure maintenance across communities, as citizens continue to demand proactive measures to prevent avoidable disasters.
