The Nigeria Police Force has extradited Samuel Ugberease, also known as “Putsammy” or “Putput,” a wanted suspect in cyber fraud cases, to the United States due to accusations of online romance scams and wire fraud.
According to a statement from the police, the suspect was transferred to U.S. authorities following joint investigations conducted by INTERPOL NCB Abuja and American law enforcement.

Investigators discovered that from 2014 to 2018, Ugberease and his group allegedly created fake dating profiles to deceive and defraud numerous women in the United States. One victim is said to have lost over $1.5 million to this scheme.

Ugberease was apprehended at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos in December 2025 after a Red Notice was issued by INTERPOL at the request of the United States.

The Federal High Court in Lagos later approved his extradition in line with Nigeria’s extradition laws.
