Adeleke’s comments were a response to the Inspector-General’s claims that the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, indicated some criminal suspects were allegedly hiding within the Government House.
The governor rejected this assertion, emphasizing that he would not protect criminals and urged law enforcement to apprehend anyone who commits a crime.
“If any of my people commit a crime, they should be arrested. This includes my son; if he is guilty, he should face consequences to understand his actions,” Adeleke stated in front of the IGP.

While reiterating his support for law enforcement, Adeleke accused some police personnel of being unprofessional in their roles, referring to the transfer of an officer who arrested a suspect involved in the murder of a 14-year-old boy in Ilobu.

He criticized the police for what he described as “games” that undermine justice.
“I find it concerning that after a police officer did his duty by arresting the alleged murderer of a 14-year-old boy, he was transferred. This is not acceptable,” Adeleke remarked.
Nonetheless, he commended the Inspector-General for his dedication to addressing misconduct within the Nigeria Police Force and urged officers to uphold professionalism and fairness in their responsibilities. “I appreciate the Inspector-General’s commitment to discipline and his firm stance against crime, which brings me joy,” he added.
