Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has revealed that the kidnappers of the Oyo schoolchildren threatened to kill the victims if security forces attempted to approach their location.
He stated that the criminals are using the children as leverage to negotiate the release of some of their arrested leaders.

In an interview with News Central TV, Musa addressed concerns regarding military financing, admitting that although additional resources are necessary, the welfare of soldiers has improved markedly, with their average monthly salaries rising from approximately ₦49,000 to ₦100,000.

Musa explained the challenges in rescuing the abducted students, stating, “They’ve threatened that if we come any closer, they’re going to kill all the kids.” He added that the kidnappers believe that holding the children for ransom might pressure the military into releasing some of their detained commanders.
