The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Olorundare Jimoh, has decorated 10 newly promoted police officers from the Lagos and Ogun State Commands, urging them to justify their new ranks with dedication, professionalism, and exemplary leadership.
The decoration ceremony, held on Thursday at the Zone 2 Headquarters, saw four Assistant Commissioners of Police elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police, five Chief Superintendents promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police, and one Assistant Superintendent of Police, a medical practitioner, promoted to Superintendent of Police in line with the regulations of the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The newly promoted officers are: DCP Deborah Omoruan Benard, DCP Ayim Doghudje Mary, DCP Jaiyeoba Idowu Joseph, DCP Lot Garba Lantoh, ACP Gafar Ajayi Adeyanju, ACP Ajoke Risikat Akande, ACP Olanrewaju Victor Kalejaiye, ACP Ellah Jeffrey, ACP Chukwu Thomas and SP Okusi Abimbola
The officers were drawn from the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands under Zone 2.

He stressed that officers must demonstrate stronger leadership qualities, integrity, and commitment to public service as they assume their new positions.
According to him, the Police Service Commission has strengthened the promotion process by introducing a body of examiners responsible for conducting interviews and setting examinations, thereby eliminating what he described as the era of “home delivery” promotions.
“This promotion is a hard-earned achievement for all the officers that have been promoted,” AIG Jimoh said.
He added, “I want to, on behalf of the entire officers and men of the Zone 2 Headquarters, thank the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, and the Police Service Commission for finding these officers worthy of this promotion.”
The AIG noted that the current promotion system is designed to reward competence, professionalism, and performance, encouraging officers across the Nigeria Police Force to remain committed to excellence.
He urged the newly promoted officers to serve as role models for their subordinates and ensure that their actions continue to inspire public confidence in the Force.
