INEC is neutral, my opponents are just raising false alarm, President Tinubu says 

President Tinubu claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is impartial, stating that his opponents who are raising false alarms may be fearful of their own insecurities.

During a meeting with the leadership of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), headed by President Most Rev. Matthew Ndagoso, at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, President Tinubu remarked, “The playing field is level. INEC has always been neutral and has not intimidated anyone. If my political rivals are making accusations, it might be due to their own fears and the uncertainty of their alliances, not me.”

As the 2027 elections approach, opposition parties have frequently alleged that INEC is sabotaging their efforts to benefit the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

While addressing the Bishops, the President assured the Nigerian public that reforms in security operations and institutions are underway to combat terrorism, banditry, and kidnappings across the nation.

He highlighted that Nigeria’s security framework is being enhanced for better effectiveness, with a focus on improved intelligence gathering, restructuring and upgrading security agencies, better logistical support, and prioritizing the welfare of personnel on the front lines.
