The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reiterated its dedication to due process, institutional discipline, and the rule of law in light of recent accusations made by social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), against Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Moshood Jimoh, who oversees Zone 2 in Lagos.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the NPF mentioned that the criminal case referenced by VeryDarkMan is currently under investigation and has already been brought before a competent court, following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP). The Force emphasized that, given the matter is sub judice, it will not be publically litigated or influenced by media campaigns.
The police confirmed that AIG Moshood Jimoh has been questioned by the AIG responsible for the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) as part of their internal accountability process. Additionally, it stated that the FCID formally invited VeryDarkMan on July 30, 2026, to provide evidence for the allegations he has publicly made.
The NPF asserted its commitment to investigating all credible claims through established procedures, regardless of the involved officer’s rank or the complainant’s public standing. They highlighted that discipline within the Nigeria Police is governed by the Constitution, the Police Act 2020, Police Regulations, Force Orders, and other relevant administrative protocols.

It noted that any officer determined to be guilty after an investigation would face legal repercussions, while false allegations meant to harm the reputation of an officer or the institution could result in legal action.
The Force encouraged VeryDarkMan to accept the FCID’s invitation, collaborate faithfully with the ongoing administrative review, and allow the legal process related to the separate criminal matter to proceed.
Reinforcing its dedication to professionalism, transparency, and fair justice, the Nigeria Police Force asserted that no officer is above the law, genuine complaints will be addressed, and no disciplinary action will occur outside legally mandated procedures.
