The Presidency is said to have expended N37.64 billion on presidential travel, logistics, foreign exchange, and other related costs from June 2023 to April 2026, as per an analysis of GovSpend records.
This revelation comes as President Bola Tinubu embarked on a three-week vacation to Europe, with London being his initial stop. His foreign travel count will reach 52 during this trip.

According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu is anticipated to return from his working vacation to engage intensively in the campaign for the January 2027 elections.
Daily Trust’s examination of official travel records indicates that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Tinubu has spent around 261 days abroad, visiting over 30 countries through 51 trips, with France being his most frequent destination, followed closely by London.

GovSpend documentation reveals travel expenditures of N9.18 billion in the latter half of 2023, N25.26 billion in 2024, N2.7 billion in 2025, and N477.4 million from January to April 2026. Spending peaked in 2024, primarily due to foreign exchange allocations and support for the Presidential Air Fleet.
Additionally, records indicated that $553,884, approximately N700.7 million at the relevant exchange rates, was allocated for overseas trips involving First Lady Oluremi Tinubu during 2023 and 2024.
In response, Ayo Ologun, President of the Transparency and Accountability Group, raised concerns about the legal justifications for financing official foreign trips for the First Lady.
He noted that her office is not recognized by law and questioned the appropriateness of public funds being used for such travel. Ologun labeled it an abuse of power and called for an investigation into the expenditures.
