Training to Focus on Grassroots Mobilisation

THEDSF Director-General, Comrade Giwa Moshood Olasupo, described the initiative as part of the organisation’s grassroots engagement strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.

He said the programme was designed to give the volunteers practical knowledge and skills for engaging with prospective voters and coordinating activities at the community level.

The training is expected to cover grassroots engagement approaches including door-to-door visits, base-to-base mobilisation, market-to-market outreach and community-to-community interactions.

The organisation said the objective is to create a more structured and coordinated volunteer network operating within individual polling-unit environments.

THEDSF Sets 200,000-Vote Mobilisation Target

The Director of Mobilisation and Membership, Amb. Bukola Animashaun, said the training forms part of THEDSF’s wider mobilisation strategy.

Animashaun said the group has set a target of 200,000 votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as well as Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru and other APC candidates across Epe Division in the 2027 general elections.

The stated target is the organisation’s own mobilisation objective and does not represent an official election forecast.

THEDSF Director of Communications, Engr. Ahmed Gbajumo, said the physical training programme would complement the organisation’s existing social media and online engagement activities across the five LGAs and LCDAs.

According to him, the initiative is intended to bridge the gap between digital mobilisation and community-level engagement.

Gbajumo said the trained volunteers would form part of a coordinated grassroots network capable of communicating with residents and carrying out mobilisation activities within their respective polling units.

The organisation said the training represents another phase in the development of its grassroots structure, with emphasis on volunteer coordination, communication, field engagement and the use of data in mobilisation activities.
