The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has declared Hon. Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa as the duly elected Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, following his resounding victory in the just-concluded 2025 Lagos Local Government Elections.

Hon. Olowa, who was seeking re-election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled a record-breaking 59,342 votes, according to official results announced late Saturday by the Returning Officer, Mr. Bankole Oduntan Adetola, at the Ibeju Lekki Collation Centre.
A Historic Mandate from the People of Ibeju LEKKI
Saturday’s victory marks a big milestone in the political history of Ibeju-Lekki, as Hon. Olowa’s margin of victory is the highest ever recorded in a local government chairmanship election in the council’s history.
With a total of 59,342 votes cast in his favour, the returning Chairman’s performance reflects strong grassroots support across all wards within Ibeju-Lekki, a fast-developing axis of Lagos State known for its strategic economic relevance.

“This is more than a win—it is a statement by the people of Ibeju-Lekki reaffirming their belief in responsive, accountable, and progressive leadership,” said a source at the APC Secretariat.
LASIEC’s Role and Official Declaration
LASIEC, through its Returning Officer for Ibeju Lekki LGA, Mr. Bankole Oduntan Adetola, officially confirmed the final results at the collation centre, following the conclusion of voting and counting across all polling units.
“Having satisfied the requirements of the law and having scored the highest number of votes, I hereby declare Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa as the winner and returned elected as Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government,” Mr. Adetola announced.

The result was greeted with jubilation by supporters, community leaders, and party stakeholders, who described it as a victory for continuity and visionary governance.
Congratulatory messages pour in
In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Akadiri Ayorinde, a toast of congratulations was offered to the re-elected council boss:
“A toast of congratulations to the re-elected Mayor and wishing him a happy tenure.”
Other political stakeholders in Lagos, including House of Assembly members, APC chieftains, traditional leaders, and youth groups, have also sent in goodwill messages celebrating what many describe as a “people-powered victory.”
Ibeju Lekki: Lagos’ Emerging Economic Powerhouse
Ibeju-Lekki has rapidly risen in prominence as the future commercial hub of Lagos, home to multi-billion-naira projects such as: Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Plant, Lekki Deep Sea Port, Lekki Free Trade Zone and New international airport project.
