AccessAbility by Tar , a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring dignity, celebrating inclusion, and supporting children with special needs, has launched a new project at the Kwara State Special Needs School in Yakuba, Ilorin.

Speaking with The Lagos Voice, Project Team lead, Aliyu Rahmah Olajumoke said the initiative aims to create awareness, amplify the voices of children with disabilities, and foster comfort and confidence among students who are blind, deaf, or have other learning challenges.

Aliyu expressed concern that children with disabilities often face neglect, lack of assistive tools, and social stigma, issues that inspired the creation of AccessAbility by Tar, “born from compassion and built through community support.”

The project’s first and last phases took place on July 22 and July 25, 2025, reaching over 150 students from low-income communities. The team, Aliyu Rahmah initiatives, distributed school sandals and socks to the children, ensuring they could attend classes with dignity and comfort.

“The smallest gesture, when done with love, can echo loudly in the life of someone who’s been unheard. Let’s all become bridges, not barriers, for people with special needs, she added.

One moment that stood out for Aliyu was when a young boy hugged his new sandals and socks tightly to his chest.

It wasn’t just about shoes given, it was about worth,” she recalled. “That made every sleepless night worthwhile for her.

Aliyu Rahmah olajumoke plans to expand the project to reach more schools and communities because this is more than donations received, it’s dignity delivered. It’s children walking into school feeling safe, seen, and proud,” she said confidently.
