During a stakeholder meeting with residents at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Housing Estate in Iponri, Surulere Local Government Area, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing, Engr. Abdulhafis Toriola, highlighted the significance of integrating global best practices in facility management, in cooperation with designated facility managers. He pointed out that embracing sustainability is vital for the development and preservation of government housing estates, ensuring they remain livable, secure, and maintain high property values for both homeowners and residents.

He urged both homeowners and facility managers to focus on maintenance and comply with physical planning laws and environmental regulations to avert deterioration of infrastructure.
He emphasized the necessity of sustainable housing estates for the welfare of residents and the ecosystem. To support sustainability efforts, a monitoring and compliance unit has been created to enforce adherence to physical planning laws and relevant regulations in Lagos State.
