NYCN Lekki LCDA hosts maiden annual Congress, reviews 2025 achievements

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Local Branch, on Tuesday held its maiden Annual Congress and Get-Together at the Lekki Town Hall.

The event, which attracted over 200 youths, stakeholders, and notable personalities, was held under the theme “2025 in Review: Fulfilment, Growth and a Renewed Commitment to Youth Development in Lekki LCDA.”

It marked a major milestone for the branch, underscoring its commitment to youth empowerment, leadership development, and community growth.

Anchored by media personality and NYCN Lekki LCDA Public Relations Officer, Comr. Hassan Abdulsalam, the congress featured a series of impactful sessions.

In his welcome address, the Youth Coordinator, Comr. Olabanjo Shakirudeen, highlighted the vision, mission, and core values of the council, while reaffirming its dedication to inclusive youth participation and sustainable development.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Dr. Bukola Lawal (PhD), who spoke on the critical role of young people in driving development and ensuring sustainable growth in Lekki LCDA and Lagos State at large.

Her address challenged youths to embrace responsibility, innovation, and active civic engagement.

As part of the accountability segment of the congress, the branch presented its secretariat and financial reports, outlining achievements recorded during the year and reinforcing its commitment to transparency and effective leadership.

Representing the NYCN Lagos State Chairman, Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, the State Treasurer, Amb. Ibrahim Ogunbanwo, charged the Lekki youths to remain disciplined, focused, and proactive in contributing to nation-building.

The event also featured awards and recognitions. Royal Master was honoured for outstanding performance and contributions during the year, while special recognition plaques were presented to distinguished personalities including Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, NYCN Lagos State Chairman; Dr. Bukola Lawal; and Hon. Adeleke Olabanjo, a CDC member and former Supervisor for Agriculture in Lekki LCDA.

The branch expressed deep appreciation to several leaders and stakeholders for their support, including the Executive Chairman of Lekki LCDA, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali; Vice Chairman, Hon. Alogba Oluremi; Matron of NYCN Lekki LCDA, Hon. Ramat Bola Kasali; and other political leaders, youth leaders, and representatives of sister youth organizations across Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, and beyond.

In a notable moment, Engr. Ibrahim Adigun commended the leadership and vision of the Lekki LCDA branch, applauding it for emerging as the Best Local Branch in the Lagos East Senatorial District at the last NYCN State Congress.

He urged youths to commit themselves to continuous learning, self-development, and solution-driven leadership in advancing both the LCDA and Lagos State.
