The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong warning to governors who have defected from its ranks, insisting that they will regret their actions when Nigerians go to the polls in the 2027 general elections.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, asserted on Friday during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where he said the outcome of the next elections would serve as a lasting lesson on the importance of political principle.

Addressing criticisms surrounding internal crises within the PDP, Ememobong acknowledged that the party has faced challenges but rejected attempts by defectors to distance themselves from responsibility.

“For elections, we acknowledge the fact that there are problems in the PDP, and we are not being irresponsible about that,” he stated. “But the problems in the PDP concern human beings, and they were leaders of the party at the time when these problems were there.”
He argued that many of those now condemning the party were key figures in its leadership when the disputes emerged, insisting that blame cannot be shifted solely to the institution.
“So when you’re pointing accusing fingers at the PDP, you are simply having four fingers pointing back at you,” Ememobong said. “The question is: what did you do when this crisis was there? Because human beings created the crisis.”
The PDP spokesperson maintained that the party remains focused on rebuilding and repositioning itself ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that voters would ultimately judge politicians based on consistency, accountability, and loyalty to democratic ideals.
