Adekunle Gold makes history with sold-out show at Wole Soyinka Centre in Lagos

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has etched his name into the country’s music history books after becoming the first artist to sell out the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, the iconic Lagos venue formerly known as the National Theatre.

The historic feat was achieved on Friday, December 26, 2025, when Adekunle Gold’s concert attracted a full-capacity crowd of 3,560 fans to the recently revamped cultural landmark.

The sold-out show marked a significant moment not only in the artist’s career but also in the venue’s new era as a hub for live entertainment.

To commemorate the achievement, Adekunle Gold was presented with two plaques on Thursday, January 1, 2026. One plaque recognized him as the first headlining artist to sell out the venue, while the second honored the management team and record label responsible for organizing the successful concert.

The night was further elevated by a surprise guest appearance from rapper Olamide, while respected music figures such as Yinka Ayefele and Adewale Ayuba were spotted among the audience, underscoring the significance of the event within the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Taking to Instagram to celebrate the milestone, Adekunle Gold expressed gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support.

“Thank you all for a great end to 2025,” he wrote, reflecting on what has been a standout year for his career.

The singer also hinted at his next move, teasing plans for an international run.

“North America is up next,” he told fans, before asking, “Where should I bring the Fuji experience to?”

With the historic Lagos concert now behind him, Adekunle Gold appears poised to take his unique sound and live performances to an even wider global audience.
