The congress was themed “2025 in Review: Fulfilment, Growth and a Renewed Commitment to Youth Development in Lekki LCDA.”

Speaking to a gathering of youths, stakeholders, and community leaders, Dr. Lawal described young people as the driving force of social and economic transformation, urging them to move beyond apathy and become active contributors to governance and development.

“The future of Lekki and Lagos State lies in the hands of its youths. Development will not happen by chance; it requires informed, innovative, and responsible young people who are ready to take ownership of their communities,” she said.

She emphasized that youth participation in governance and community development must be intentional and solution-driven, noting that sustainable growth can only be achieved when young people are empowered with the right mindset and skills.

“Civic responsibility is not optional. It is a duty. When youths engage constructively, hold leaders accountable, and offer practical solutions, communities thrive and development becomes sustainable,” Dr. Lawal added.

The congress, which marked a milestone for the NYCN Lekki LCDA branch, also featured the presentation of secretariat and financial reports, reflecting the branch’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective leadership.

In her remarks, Dr. Lawal commended the Lekki LCDA executive for institutionalizing accountability and youth inclusion, describing the maiden congress as a strong foundation for long-term youth development.

“What I see here today is a clear demonstration of structure, vision, and accountability. This is how youth organizations earn credibility and influence,” she noted.
