The incident reportedly occurred after a tense and controversial match between the two sides, which ended 3–2 in favour of Stormers SC.
According to the viral post shared by the Media officer on X (formerly Twitter), the game was marred by several contentious moments. One of the most significant incidents came when the referee issued a second yellow card, followed by a red card, to a Stormers SC player. However, after what was described as intense pressure from Stormers SC officials on the touchline, the referee reversed the decision despite having initially confirmed it.

Tensions escalated further in the closing stages of the match when the Stormers SC coach allegedly confronted and slapped the assistant referee. The coach was subsequently shown a red card.
The situation reportedly deteriorated after the final whistle, as Stormers SC players were said to have chased and physically intimidated opposing players, many of whom were described as being under the age of 17.
In an attempt to intervene and protect his team, the Media Officer stated that he entered the pitch and began recording one of the Stormers SC players who appeared to be attempting to attack an opponent.
It was during this intervention that he alleged he was attacked from behind by Kelani.
He said; “I was suddenly slapped from behind by the General Manager of Stormers SC, Lekan Kelani,” he said. “My phone was knocked out of my hand and smashed to the ground, thankfully, only the screen guard was damaged.”
He further claimed that the Stormers SC General Manager charged at him again, grabbed his trousers, and restrained him for several minutes while some players issued threats against him.
The Media Officer said he eventually broke free but had to be escorted out of the stadium for his safety. He later discovered that some of his personal belongings, including his face cap and an EarPod, were missing.
Describing the incident as deeply troubling, he condemned the violence and called for urgent intervention from football authorities, including the Nigeria Football Federation and the Ogun State Football Association.
He stressed that such actions undermine the integrity and safety of the sport, urging stakeholders to ensure accountability and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
