During the presentation, Hajji Liameed commended Hon. Soname for his immense contributions to Nigerian football and youth development. He described the Bet9ja Foundation founder as a major asset to the game, praising his consistent efforts in addressing youth restiveness and social challenges by creating platforms that offer young people positive direction, career pathways, and hope for a better future.
Liameed noted that the Lagos Ex-Internationals Cup goes beyond football, serving as a welfare-driven initiative designed to celebrate, engage, and support former Nigerian internationals who have served the country with distinction.

In his response, Hon. Kunle Soname expressed appreciation to the LSFA for the visit and the honor of presenting the trophy. He acknowledged that the Ex-Internationals Cup aligns strongly with the core mission and vision of the Bet9ja Foundation, which focuses on community development, sports growth, and the welfare of retired athletes.
Soname formally accepted the proposal to partner on the Ex-Internationals Cup and announced the appointment of a director from the Bet9ja Foundation to work closely with the Lagos FA. According to him, the collaboration will begin immediately with a working visit aimed at fine-tuning plans, logistics, and agreeing on the official kickoff date for the tournament.
The meeting further underlined the Lagos State FA’s commitment to forging strong corporate partnerships as part of its broader strategy to promote sustainable football development across the state.
