đź”— Join Our ChannelIn a statement following an emergency meeting, the union expressed that it was forced to pursue an indefinite strike due to the government’s persistent lack of response to multiple communications, including letters sent on September 1 and October 9, 2025.
A reporter from Daily Trust noted that many courts in the Kaduna metropolis were shut by 8:00 a.m., with JUSUN officials actively ensuring adherence to the strike.
At the State High Court on Bida Road, the entrance was locked with a chain, and union members were stationed nearby. Similarly, the Sharia Courts at Magajin Gari 1 and 2 were closed and empty.
JUSUN Vice Chairman Donatus Adamu, addressing the gathering outside the High Court, stated that the strike would persist until their demands were fulfilled. He remarked, “We support this government, it is our government, but regrettably, we had no choice but to start this strike today. Our action aims to enhance the entire system, not to target anyone. Our demands include implementing financial autonomy for the judiciary and adjusting salaries in line with the new minimum wage.”
Additional demands from the union include the payment of nine-month leave grants, among other requests.
Adamu assured that the strike would end as soon as these issues are resolved.
The union’s Organizing Secretary, Aminu S. Wada, also highlighted the challenges faced by judicial workers in the state, noting that employees in grades 1 to 6 have not received the full ₦72,000 minimum wage. He characterized the current state of affairs as “unhealthy and demoralizing” for the workforce.
