During a press conference on Saturday, NAFDAC State Coordinator Nasiru Mato announced that the agency has heightened monitoring of the production, distribution, and sale of regulated products to safeguard consumer health.

Mato explained that, acting on a tip-off, regulatory officers discovered a facility storing yogurt and flavored drinks in unsanitary conditions, which he deemed unacceptable as it poses a risk of contamination. Consequently, the depot was closed as an initial measure.
In a similar inspection, NAFDAC officials found that a sachet water and water-based drinks manufacturer did not comply with necessary standards. Mato stated that both Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Hygiene Practices were not upheld, leading the agency to suspend operations at the facility.
He emphasized that all manufacturers of regulated products must adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices, or they will face legal repercussions.
