The Treasurer of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Lagos State Chapter, Amb. SMASE Provost Ibraheem Ogunbanwo, MIEMPS, has called on Nigerian youths, stakeholders, and leaders to embrace unity, purpose, and innovation as the nation steps into the year 2026.
In a New Year message obtained by The Lagos Voice, he outlined the strategic direction and expectations for 2026, Ogunbanwo described the year as one filled with renewed hope, fresh opportunities, and a collective responsibility to deepen youth impact across communities.

According to him, 2026 will focus strongly on youth empowerment, innovation, collaboration, and community-driven development, with young people positioned as the driving force of national transformation.
Youth at the Centre of the 2026 Agenda
Addressing young Nigerians, the NYCN Lagos Treasurer emphasised their central role in shaping the nation’s future, urging them to channel their energy towards positive and solution-driven change.
“To the youth, you remain the strength, voice, and future of our nation. Let 2026 be the year you rise with clarity of purpose, embrace innovation, and channel your energy towards positive change,” Ogunbanwo said.
He further noted that resilience, creativity, and determination among youths would be critical to building a nation that Nigerians can collectively be proud of.
Strengthening Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement
Ogunbanwo acknowledged the importance of sustained collaboration with stakeholders, partners, and institutions, noting that youth development cannot thrive in isolation.
“To our stakeholders and partners, your support, collaboration, and commitment continue to drive sustainable youth development and community growth. Together, we will build stronger systems that empower young people and foster inclusive progress,” he added.
Appreciation to Leaders and Mentors
The NYCN Lagos Treasurer also expressed deep gratitude to leaders and mentors who have consistently supported youth leadership and advocacy across the state.
“To our leaders who have been our backbone, we express our deepest gratitude. Your guidance, mentorship, protection, and unwavering belief in our capacity to lead have strengthened our resolve and sustained our journey,” he said.
He noted that their sacrifices and encouragement remain the foundation upon which the confidence and progress of young leaders stand.

In a more personal tone, Ogunbanwo appreciated his family, friends, colleagues, and associates for their unwavering support, describing them as vital contributors to his journey and service.
