During the meeting, the group expressed their respect for the rule of law and anti-corruption agencies but emphasized the importance of ensuring that justice is evident and perceived fairly. They voiced concerns regarding the timing and circumstances surrounding the investigation, pointing out that El-Rufai left office three years prior, prompting questions about why the inquiry was not undertaken sooner if it was indeed warranted.

The attendees suggested that the delayed investigation could lead to speculation about political motives behind the actions, especially considering the shifting political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The coalition warned against the potential misuse of state institutions for political intimidation, highlighting the necessity for Nigeria’s democracy to be bolstered by fairness, transparency, and impartiality rather than through selective prosecution.

They urged the EFCC, ICPC, and DSS to carry out their investigations with professionalism and independence, warning that any hint of bias could undermine public confidence in these institutions.

At the conclusion of the gathering, the coalition resolved to strengthen their support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reaffirming their commitment to democracy and accountable governance.

In a statement issued by Hon. Darius Kurah, ADC Coalition Publicity Secretary for Kaduna State, the group reiterated their pacifist and law-abiding stance while calling for justice, fairness, and transparency in the ongoing legal proceedings.
