Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, has issued a stark warning, stating that the president would be the “worst” leader for Nigeria if he secures a second term in 2027.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Political Paradigm’ on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed expressed his disappointment with the current administration’s performance. He claimed that since his resignation, he has not observed any improvements but has instead witnessed a “deterioration of things.”

Baba-Ahmed highlighted growing insecurity and economic hardship as major concerns. “Our nation has been a lot more insecure now than when I left,” he stated. “What I see at home and on the street when people speak, the level of desperation, poverty is most pronounced, especially in the Northern part of the country.”

The former adviser also criticized President Tinubu’s political strategy, suggesting it is overly focused on the next election rather than on effective governance.

“I see a president who is amassing all the politicians around him with the hope that those politicians are going to deliver him in the second term,” Baba-Ahmed remarked. “That is poor thinking. It’s not strategic and it’s not the Tinubu that we used to hear about.”

He concluded with a blunt assessment: “I’m sorry to say that I think President Tinubu will make the worst president if he returns to power in 2027.”
