A Platform for Readiness and Discovery
Founder of Assamokee International, Dr. AbdulRahmon Abolore, said the tournament was designed to elevate the standard of women’s football by providing teams with elite-level preseason exposure.
“The Queens Cup is not just a tournament, it’s a launchpad,” Abolore said. “Every match will test clubs’ tactical discipline and conditioning. This intensity helps coaches build match-ready squads before the NWFL Premiership begins.”
He added that the competition would also serve as a talent discovery platform, spotlighting young players and new signings who could emerge as future stars of Nigerian women’s football.
Abolore described Ibadan as the ideal location for the Queens Cup, noting that staging the tournament at the Lekan Salami Stadium reinforces the belief that women’s football deserves a place in Nigeria’s biggest arenas.
“Ibadan is the new heartbeat of women’s football,” he said. “Hosting the Queens Cup here sends a message, the women’s game belongs on the biggest stages. With Oyo State Government support and NWFL endorsement, we’re setting the standard for what’s to come.”
As excitement builds across the Southwest, the participating clubs are fine-tuning preparations for what promises to be a thrilling week of football.
