Gospel Singer, Judikay shares challenging experience of losing sixth pregnancy

Judith Kanayo, a popular Nigerian gospel singer, better known as Judikay, has shared her traumatic experience and challenges with childbirth.

In a now-viral interview series, the singer disclosed that she had her last miscarriage in February 2025, describing the period as deeply challenging and painful.

Recounting the whole process, she revealed that following her pregnancy of over three months; in February 2025, she felt a pain, which made her use the washroom.

She revealed that she was devastated upon discovering blood flow instead of urine, stating that the meaning immediately dawned upon her.

Judikay shared that it marked her sixth miscarriage, and she had to be taken to the hospital for a dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure over her missed miscarriage.

She also highlighted the challenges that followed the process, revealing that following the pain that trailed the removal of the baby, another pain began at home. She stated that the night was challenging, as she experienced serious pain, which left her in tears.

“In February 2025, I experienced a pain that almost crushed me. I was pregnant for well over three months. One of these days, I was going about my day when I started to experience cramps,” she said.

“I said, ‘Oh, okay, it was one of those things.’ And then trickles of blood, and I said, ‘Oh, spotting’. If you are a woman who has been pregnant before, you will know what spotting refers to

“And then I had the urge to use the washroom. And what I thought should be urine was blood. It did not stop. It kept flowing. And I was devastated because I understood what that meant automatically.

“This baby that I lost, that has gone past three months, marks the sixth one.“I was rushed to the hospital, and they did a D&C on me because it was a missed miscarriage,” she added.

“And when I returned home, I thought I was okay. I had cried and shouted whilst they broke the baby and brought the pieces.

“Everyone would ask, and I would say God gets the glory. But then in the silence of the night, I would experience a pain that I could not express. I would wail and cry and say, ‘Jesus, where are you?.”

Judikay is one of Nigeria’s top gospel singers, as her captivating lyrics have endeared her to several gospel music lovers. She got married to Anselem Opara in 2020, and the couple welcome d their first child in 2022.
