Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and presidential candidate for the Labour Party, has asserted that effective governance in Nigeria doesn’t need to be confined to Abuja, the capital.

He believes that a president can successfully perform their responsibilities from various regions, including Kaduna.

During his visit to Kaduna on Sunday, where he interacted with members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party he recently joined—Obi highlighted the proximity of Abuja to Kaduna, making it feasible for a president to conduct meetings there.

He stated, “The journey from Abuja to Kaduna takes less than two hours. There’s nothing preventing a president from traveling to Kaduna for meetings, spending a day or two, and then returning. I can effectively lead Nigeria from Kaduna.”

He further emphasized Kaduna’s strategic significance and its historical role in industry, agriculture, and commerce, expressing optimism about restoring its former stature for the benefit of its citizens.
