'Zero tolerance for misconduct' – AIG Moshood Jimoh takes charge of Zone 2 Police Command

Newly promoted Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Moshood Jimoh, has officially assumed duty as the head of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command, overseeing operations in Lagos State and Ogun State.

Jimoh, who previously served as Commissioner of Police in Lagos, resumed his new role on Monday following his promotion, setting a firm tone with a strong commitment to discipline, professionalism, and human rights.

Zero Tolerance for Misconduct

In his inaugural address, the AIG made it clear that misconduct within the force would not be tolerated under his leadership.

“Any officer found engaging in misconduct will face strict disciplinary measures,” Jimoh warned.

He emphasised adherence to constitutional provisions, particularly regarding unlawful detention of suspects.

“Suspects must not be detained beyond the constitutionally mandated 24 to 48-hour period without being charged in court,” he added.

Jimoh also cautioned officers against interfering in civil matters, especially land disputes, which have often led to abuse of police authority.

“We will only deal with special cases and all the other cases assigned to us by the Inspector-General of Police or the cases for which the zone is set up,” he explained.

He further directed that the indiscriminate transfer of cases from lower formations to the zonal headquarters must stop immediately.
