The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has announced a two-week extension for the filing of individual annual income tax returns, moving the deadline from March 31 to April 14, 2026.
The announcement was made in a statement issued on Monday by the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, who explained that the extension is aimed at giving taxpayers more time to file accurate returns.

“The statutory deadline for filing individual annual tax returns is March 31 every year,” Subair stated.
“The extension is intended to provide individuals with additional time to complete and submit accurate tax returns.”
Despite the extension, LIRS emphasised that taxpayers must treat filing obligations as a priority and part of their routine civic responsibilities.

She added, “Individuals must give priority to the timely filing of their annual income tax returns,” Subair said, adding that compliance should be “embedded as a routine personal practice.”
The agency also reiterated that all filings must be done electronically via its official portal, as manual submissions are no longer accepted.
“Electronic filing through the LIRS eTax platform remains the only approved method for submitting annual returns,” the statement noted.
LIRS further advised individuals to ensure that their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly entered during the filing process to avoid errors or delays.
