Nigeria Police Zone 2 arrests seven suspects linked to multiple murders and armed robbery in Lagos, recovering weapons and launching further investigations.

The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Lagos, has recorded a breakthrough in its fight against violent crime with the arrest of seven suspected criminals linked to multiple offences, including murder and armed robbery.

The operation was led under the supervision of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Afolayan Gbenga, operatives of the Zonal Puff Adder team acted on credible intelligence on March 3, 2026, leading to the arrest of the prime suspect, Fawas Opeyemi Alarape, also known as “Karube.”

Further intelligence from the suspect prompted a targeted raid on a criminal hideout known as “Lion’s Den” in Orile Iganmu, Lagos, resulting in the arrest of five additional suspects. Another suspect was apprehended at White Sand, also in Orile Iganmu

During the operation, police recovered several dangerous items, including: A locally made cut-to-size shotgun, four cutlasses, one knife, and a claw hammer, live and expended cartridges, and Assorted charms.

These items are believed to have been used in various criminal operations across Lagos.

Police investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in several murder cases in different parts of Lagos.

The prime suspect reportedly confessed to the killing of a tricycle rider in Surulere, identified as Ikujowolo, who was robbed and fatally shot under the Shitta Bridge.

He also implicated an accomplice, Ahmed Oladele, popularly known as “Small Messi,” who is currently at large.

Further confessions linked the group to the deaths of multiple victims in the Orile Iganmu area in February 2026.

The suspects are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities confirmed they will be charged in court upon conclusion of the probe.

AIG Jimoh commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, reiterating the command’s commitment to eliminating criminal elements across Lagos and Ogun states.

The police also urged residents to remain vigilant and to support law enforcement by providing timely, credible information to enhance public safety.
