Ekpenyong emphasized the importance of vigilance, reminding the community that COVID-19, which surfaced six years ago, has not been fully eradicated. She urged the public to regularly wash and sanitize their hands, wear masks, and adhere to health guidelines.

Dr. Henry Egbe Ayuk, the state Commissioner for Health, previously confirmed the resurgence of COVID-19 in the state, indicating that public health measures have been activated to manage any potential outbreaks. He reassured residents that there was no reason to panic.

“COVID-19 is not unique to Nigeria. We are committed to containing it. There’s no need for alarm,” he stated.

He further cautioned that the global movement of infected individuals might continue to present a risk for new outbreaks, but expressed confidence in the state’s readiness.
