The Katsina State Government has announced that the Emir of Katsina, His Highness Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, will preside over the turbaning ceremony of three newly appointed District Heads.

The historic event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 2nd May, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Emir’s Palace in Katsina.
Speaking with journalist on the programme of the events, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Surajo Yazeed Abukur, said the ceremony will honour three distinguished sons of Katsina State with revered traditional titles.

According to Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State, those to be turbaned are Alhaji Ahmad Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, who will become the Danmajen Katsina and District Head of Dankama; Alhaji Muhammad Dikko Radda, who will be turbaned as the Gwagwaren Katsina II and District Head of Radda; and Alhaji Muhammad Dardisu, who will assume the title of Sarkin Mudurun Katsina and District Head of Muduru.
Hon. Abukur explained that turbaning ceremony goes beyond the conferment of traditional titles. He described the event as a renewed commitment to preserving the history, culture, and dignity of the Katsina Emirate.
“The ceremony is not merely about traditional titles, it is a celebration of our identity, heritage, and the continuity of leadership within the Emirate,” he stated.
He further stressed that several side of events have been lined up to mark the occasion, including a special Polo tournament, royal horse processions, and a grand dinner reception.
Abukur also announced that the state will unveil a historic compendium titled KARAGA, which documents the history of the Katsina Royal House and the evolution of the newly created district titles.
Speaking for himself, the Chairman of the Central Working Committee, Faruk Aminu, assured full readiness for the successful hosting of the event and called on citizens and cultural enthusiasts across Nigeria to participate in the celebration.
“We invite all lovers of culture and tradition to be part of this landmark occasion, which reflects the pride of rich heritage of Katsina State,” Dr. Aminu disclosed.
The event is expected to draw dignitaries, traditional rulers, and culture enthusiasts from across the country in celebration of Katsina’s enduring heritage.
