2027: Tinubu’s financial support will ensure Edo votes, says Governor Okpebholo

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo believes that the state’s residents will strongly back President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general elections, attributing this to increased financial assistance from the federal government.

During an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Okpebholo stated that Edo could provide up to 2.5 million votes for Tinubu.

Okpebholo also commented on the results of the 2023 presidential election in the state, where Peter Obi outperformed Tinubu.

He attributed this to the dissatisfaction with the previous administration under former governor Godwin Obaseki, suggesting that voter discontent played a role in the election results.

“Peter Obi won against Tinubu last time because the previous governor was not effective. People wanted to voice their frustration,” he explained.

When asked if his influence would sway support for Tinubu in Edo, Okpebholo highlighted the ongoing projects and federal support instead.

“The work we are doing, along with the funds Tinubu is providing for us, is what people are recognizing. Such support has never been seen in Edo State before,” he concluded.
