Since assuming leadership of the newsroom as Editor and Team Lead, David Olatunji has overseen the publication of thousands of news reports, feature stories, special reports, and youth-centred content aimed at informing and engaging young readers. The platform, owned by Atlantic Media Network, describes itself as a community-driven and youth-led media organisation that is high on impactful communication.
While reflecting on the journey so far via his social media handle, Olatunji noted that the vision behind the newsroom extends beyond daily publishing. “While setting the Newsroom up, I believe it should envision a society where young people are empowered to drive positive change through effective communication,” he said.

Over the last year, the newsroom has increasingly centred its work around youth empowerment, media participation, and storytelling. According to Olatunji, the platform has remained committed to helping young people develop confidence in writing, research, and creative storytelling while also creating opportunities for collaboration among emerging writers and creatives.
“We have been striving to build a strong, supportive community where young writers, researchers, and creatives can collaborate, share ideas, and grow together while using journalism as a tool for awareness and positive social impact,” he added.
Apart from the conventional reporting, The Lagos Voice has also expanded its coverage to include daily updates on educational opportunities, international programmes, scholarships, youth development initiatives, and other informational resources relevant to young Nigerians.
Olatunji said the newsroom’s editorial direction remains centred on journalism that does more than generate online engagement, while stressing the importance of stories that inspire meaningful conversations and social impact.
“As I continue leading the Newsroom, I am committed to having a strong emphasis on impactful storytelling that resonates with our youth-focused audience, and not just sparking conversation and engagement alone, but for impactful journalism” he stated.
The organisation further describes itself as more than a content platform, noting that its operations functions as a full digital newsroom combining news reporting, analytical journalism, community-centred storytelling, youth and cultural engagement, as well as media partnerships and advertising services.
As part of its expansion plans, The Lagos Voice is also seeking collaborations with media partners, firms, and brands interested in advertising and audience engagement through the platform.
According to Olatunji, the long-term goal remains to establish The Lagos Voice as one of the leading youth-focused digital media platforms that elevates youth voices from Lagos while promoting social cohesion, community development, and impactful public discourse across Nigeria.
