The Katsina State Government has sanctioned a ₦3.8 billion loan to ensure 3,890 Hajj slots for pilgrims planning to travel to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 pilgrimage.
Governor Dikko Radda made this announcement during a farewell event for pilgrims in Katsina on Sunday. He explained that this financial support was necessary due to challenges the state faced in securing its allotted slots through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.

“I was informed that the state initially struggled to meet its allocated slots. In response, we approved a ₦3.8 billion loan, which allowed Katsina State to secure and fill 3,890 slots for this year’s Hajj,” he stated.
Radda encouraged the pilgrims to use this opportunity to pray for peace, unity, and improved security in Katsina State and Nigeria. He also mentioned that additional welfare measures would be provided, including sponsorship of Hadaya and a $500 allowance for each pilgrim to help with their basic needs in Saudi Arabia.

He further noted that 200 officials have been assigned to offer spiritual guidance, medical support, and logistical help throughout the pilgrimage, emphasizing that all personnel were carefully chosen and well-prepared for their roles.
In addition, the governor highlighted efforts to enhance the efficiency of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board to address previous issues. “We have implemented targeted measures to improve the board’s structure and functionality,” he affirmed, adding that strict oversight and accountability protocols have been established.
Radda reminded the pilgrims to uphold discipline and good behavior, pointing out that many families made significant sacrifices to facilitate their participation.
