Oyo State Police Command has apprehended six suspects and local informants linked to the recent school kidnappings in the Ahoro-Esiele area of Oriire Local Government.
Despite these arrests, reports indicate that the main kidnappers in the forest remain at large, successfully evading capture.
The police identified individuals named Babangida and Kabiru as local logistics providers and informants, apprehending them in Ibadan’s Ojoo Area while they were trying to collect ransom money for the bandits.
Additionally, three suspects—Adewuyi, Ayanwola, and Rafiu—were arrested during further investigations; they are from the Gbugbu area in Kwara State and Ago-Are in Oyo State.

Authorities discovered that three accounts were being used temporarily to funnel money to the bandits in the forest, prompting intervention from the Central Bank of Nigeria and anti-corruption agencies regarding these accounts.
Furthermore, military personnel tracked down a university student named Adeleye, who was caught with a victim’s phone. The ransom emails sent to the victim’s family were linked directly to his device.
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer reported that investigators intercepted communications revealing the informants’ strategies for navigating the old Oyo National Park to avoid detection by military forces.
