Lagos University appoints two Badagry indigenes as Registrar and Bursar

The Governing Council of Lagos State University has confirmed the reappointment of Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu as Registrar and Secretary to the Council, along with Mr. Olabisi Yusuf, who has been appointed as the new Bursar of the institution.

These appointments were made during an emergency Council meeting on June 10, 2026, and will be effective from July 2, 2026, for a period of four years.

Reports indicate that both individuals hail from Badagry, Lagos State.

Mr. Fanu has been with LASU since 1999, starting as an Administrative Officer II and progressing through various positions over more than twenty years. He previously served as Acting Registrar from June 2021 to February 2022 before his official appointment in June 2022.

Mr. Yusuf has held multiple financial management positions at the university after joining in 2006, including Deputy Bursar and Project Accountant for the Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

The university announced that both appointments were the result of a competitive selection process conducted on June 10, 2026. Mr. Yusuf will take over from Mr. Said Babatunde Olayinka, whose term ends on July 1, 2026.

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University, Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, extended her congratulations to the appointees and expressed her hopes for their “purposeful and successful tenure in service to Lagos State University.”
