NDLEA stops Lagos businesswoman from smuggling large cocaine shipment to china

Iwebema Ogechi Peace, a 38-year-old businesswoman, was apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) after a significant amount of cocaine was found hidden in a specially crafted false bottom of her luggage.

She was on her way to Beijing, China, on a Qatar Airways flight from Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos.

Iwebema, who asserts that her trips to China are for purchasing goods to sell in Nigeria, was arrested on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Terminal 2’s departure hall based on reliable intelligence.

A search of her checked luggage revealed four large parcels containing cocaine, concealed in a professionally designed hidden compartment within her bag. The seized parcels weighed a total of 7.5 kilograms.
