An All Progressives Congress (APC) leader has asserted that Christians are now significantly more at ease with the party’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket compared to their feelings before the 2023 general election.
During an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, Farouk Aliyu contended that the current administration has effectively addressed initial concerns about religious exclusion.

In defending the choice to keep Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate for the 2027 presidential election, Aliyu noted that the APC has gained the trust of Nigerians during the last electoral cycle.
“Our leader, the President, wisely decided to maintain the successful ticket. I believe that Christians in this country are now much more comfortable with the Muslim-Muslim ticket than they were originally,” Aliyu stated.

He reminisced about the backlash the party faced for nominating two Muslim candidates in 2023, which raised fears of possible Christian marginalization in the government.
“At that time, there was significant outcry about Christians potentially being marginalized. However, that is now in the past, and nobody is being excluded based on religion,” he emphasized, claiming that the president has led without religious favoritism since taking office, governing as a Nigerian and not through a religious lens.
