The Oyo State Government’s two surveillance aircraft have landed in Ibadan, fulfilling the government’s earlier promise of delivery before the end of July.
In a statement from the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, he indicated that the arrival of the aircraft signifies progress in the state’s strategy to enhance security operations through better intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance.

The Commissioner reminded that the Oyo State Government had announced the procurement of these two surveillance aircraft on July 8, 2025, to bolster the capabilities of security agencies in addressing emerging security issues in the state.
He also noted that Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed on July 18, 2026, that the aircraft had arrived in Nigeria and were being reassembled at the Nigerian Air Force’s facility in Lagos.

The commissioner added that the state government had reassured residents about a week prior that the aircraft would reach Oyo by the end of July, and this recent development has honored that promise.
The aircraft are intended to assist security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps and other relevant groups, in monitoring criminal activities and enhancing response efforts throughout the state.
He further mentioned that the Governor would be present to receive the two aircraft at the airport.
