Upon arrival, emergency responders found several shops engulfed in flames. “Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was triggered by a power surge,” Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu stated. “The inferno affected six shops. Fortunately, no vehicles were affected, and no lives were lost.”
He emphasized that all traders and artisans in the vicinity were safely evacuated, preventing any injuries or casualties. “While six shops were lost to the fire, prompt intervention prevented the spread to adjoining workshops and saved other properties within the village,” he added.

The blaze was extinguished through a combined effort by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the LASEMA team. Crews remained on-site to conduct dampening-down operations to prevent any potential reignition.
“The situation is now under control,” Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed. “The area has been secured to allow traders and relevant agencies to commence damage assessment.”
The Lagos State Government praised the rapid and coordinated response of the emergency services. It also used the opportunity to remind business owners to follow electrical safety protocols, avoid overloading circuits, and ensure fire extinguishers are regularly serviced and accessible.
This incident follows another fire managed by LASEMA on Saturday at the Purple Crown Hotel in Ikeja, where a room on the first floor was affected but no casualties were reported.
