The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has shut down an alleged illegal juice manufacturing facility in Aradagun, Badagry, and arrested two women linked to the operation.
The operation took place on Monday, September 21, 2026, following tips received regarding the facility’s activities.

According to SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, the Public Relations Officer for the Civil Defence Lagos State Command, officers who raided the location found evidence of Barkas Juice being produced and distributed. They discovered numerous packaged juice products, some of which were being loaded into container trucks for market delivery across Lagos.
Abolurin also revealed that materials such as sugar, water, adhesives, dyes, and other colorants were allegedly used in the production process. Additionally, he noted that minors aged 15 to 16 were reportedly involved in the operations at the facility.

The identities of the two detained women have not been disclosed as investigations are ongoing. However, one of the women offered a different perspective, claiming the business was not newly established. She explained to CityMood that it was originally founded by her grandmother nearly 20 years ago but had ceased operations due to challenges.
She further mentioned that the business was attempting to renew its registration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and that juice production was infrequent, occurring only three or four times a year, depending on demand. She also runs a shop at Oke Arin Market in Lagos and identified a trader from Benin City as her main customer.
The conflicting narratives have not been verified independently as of the time of this report. The NSCDC stated that investigations into the facility and its operations are ongoing, and the arrested individuals will face charges in a competent court once the investigation is complete.
