Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has presented Lagos as a strategic gateway for global investment into Africa, calling for stronger partnerships to convert the continent’s growing international attention into tangible economic opportunities.
Sanwo-Olu made the call at the Global Africa Business Initiative’s Unstoppable Africa 2026 in New York, held on September 20 and 21 alongside the opening of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

The Governor highlighted Lagos’ population of more than 22 million people, expanding market, entrepreneurial base and infrastructure needs as opportunities for investors seeking to participate in Africa’s economic growth.
He said international investment should translate into practical benefits for Lagos residents, particularly in infrastructure, transportation, healthcare and enterprise development.
Sanwo-Olu also reaffirmed the State’s openness to international capital, strategic partnerships and private-sector participation, stressing the need for investments that create measurable economic value.
