The Lagos State Government has commenced a three-day digital marketing training for 600 market women and men, small business owners, young adults and artisans across the state.
The training, organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, is themed “From Local Business to Global Market: Leveraging Digital Marketing for Business Growth” and is being held from September 28 to 30, 2026, at the Women Development Centre, Agege.

Speaking at the opening, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, said digital marketing had transformed how businesses reach customers, noting that business owners could use smartphones to promote their products beyond their immediate communities.
She urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to their businesses and announced that beneficiaries would receive Android phones on the final day of the training, while transportation stipends would be provided for the first two days.
The training, facilitated by Liquid Luck Consulting, covers practical areas including competitor analysis, WhatsApp Business, online catalogues, customer engagement, financial management and digital security.

Participants are also being taught how to identify fake payment alerts and online scams, while being encouraged to separate business funds from personal finances.
The programme also includes sessions on domestic violence, skills acquisition and healthy nutrition. Participants were introduced to the ministry’s 19 skills acquisition centres and the various training opportunities available.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the initiative. One participant, Adigwe Jerry, said the training had improved his knowledge and could help expand his business, while Taiwo Halimat Shadia from Alimosho Local Government said she had already gained two followers for her business through one of the digital platforms introduced during the training.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, urged participants to put the knowledge acquired into practical use.
She also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the commissioner, ministry officials, Liquid Luck Consulting and the facilitators for supporting the programme.
