One dead, three feared injured as building collapses in Fadeyi

A tragic building collapse in the Fadeyi district of Lagos has claimed one life and left three others injured following the sudden failure of a two-storey structure under construction in the early hours of Friday.

Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the casualties in an official statement detailing the incident. According to emergency authorities, dispatchers received a distress call at 12:10 a.m., prompting the immediate deployment of the Cobra Response Team from the Onipanu Base.

First responders arrived at the scene within two minutes, finding the unfinished structure completely compromised. Initial on-site assessments raised immediate concerns that several construction workers were pinned beneath the heavy wreckage.

Emergency crews launched coordinated search and rescue operations to extract survivors, while putting essential safety protocols in place to safeguard both the victims and rescue workers during the delicate recovery process.
