On Monday, July 21, a combined enforcement unit,comprising the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) stormed the venue and executed the closure.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the clampdown in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

Light House Club was shut down after multiple warnings failed to produce compliance. Wahab noted that the facility repeatedly breached Lagos State’s noise regulation laws, prompting enforcement action.
“The closure will remain in force until the management fully complies with required environmental standards,” Wahab said

Compliance measures include installing approved soundproofing systems and undergoing strict verification by LASEPA to ensure noise levels remain within legal limits
Emphasising that the peace and well-being of Lagosians take precedence, Wahab stressed that the government will not tolerate noise infringements from entertainment venues.

“Our environmental laws are not negotiable. The right of Lagos residents to enjoy peace and quiet in their communities will always take priority over commercial interests,” he asserted
This clampdown aligns with previous efforts by the Lagos State government to enforce noise limits at event venues.

The Guardian previously reported that nightclubs, churches, bars, and lounges must now obtain noise permits and install soundproofing as per directives from Commissioner Wahab, backed by LASEPA’s enforcement teams.
