Lagos state government to initiate inspections for E-Hailing Operators

The Lagos State government has announced that all e-hailing operators in the state must have their drivers’ vehicles inspected as part of an initiative to enhance safety and service quality in the industry.

This announcement was made by the Commissioner of Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, during a meeting with operators at the Ministry of Transportation in Alausa, Ikeja, as reported in a press release from the Lagos State government on X.

Mr. Osiyemi highlighted the concerning condition of some vehicles used by drivers on licensed e-hailing platforms and expressed worries about rising safety issues for motorists and inadequate service delivery.

Echoing these concerns, Permanent Secretary Mr. Olawale Musa stressed that unregistered vehicles will no longer be accepted, as they obstruct effective monitoring. He also emphasized the importance of having all drivers registered and certified by the Lagos State Driver’s Institute.

In conclusion to the meeting, which included representatives from companies such as Uber, Bolt, Lag ride, Laurie, Vas Acquico, and Folti Tech, the commissioner urged all participants to prioritize public safety and customer satisfaction over profit.
