Engr. Adefemi Afolabi, the General Manager of the agency, indicated that the offenders routinely pump raw sewage into public drains instead of hiring licensed sewage removal services. He stressed that this illegal practice contaminates the environment and increases the risk of communicable diseases by discharging untreated wastewater into drains, roads, and waterways.
Reiterating the state’s zero tolerance policy towards environmental pollution, Afolabi urged residents to adopt proper wastewater management and hygiene practices to improve public health and environmental sustainability.
The agency remains unwavering in its mission to maintain a clean and healthy environment for the residents of Lagos. The General Manager noted that any act of environmental nuisance poses serious health risks and will be met with appropriate legal actions. He encouraged the public to report any environmental violations that could jeopardize the health and well-being of the community.
